Cambridge woman, 31, sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries, 75-year-old driver uninjured

Police said a three-year-old child is dead after a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians Thursday in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police said officers responded at 12:50 p.m. to a plaza on Cedar St. for a report of a collision involving a motor vehicle and two pedestrians in the crosswalk.

The pedestrians were transported to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and police said the three-year-old succumbed to her injuries.

A 31-year-old Cambridge woman sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 75-year-old man from Cambridge, was not injured.

HUNT ON FOR 2 MALES AFTER ETOBICOKE CARJACKING

Two males are being sought for a carjacking that began Wednesday with a collision on a busy highway in Etobicoke.

Ontario Provincial Police said a collision between two vehicles occurred on the northbound lanes of Hwy. 427 approaching Hwy. 401 shortly after 6 p.m.

“Two males exited a white Audi and confronted the driver of a grey BMW,” police said in a statement released Thursday. “There was a physical altercation before one of the suspects fled in the BMW, the remaining suspect fled in the Audi.”

A couple of hours later, just after 8 p.m., OPP said the stolen BMW was involved in a minor collision with a grey Mazda on the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 403 approaching Hurontario St. in Mississauga.

“The BMW did not stop and fled the scene,” police said.

GUELPH WOMAN CHARGED AFTER STOLEN TOYS FOUND

A 52-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with theft after a stash of stolen Jellycat toys was found during a search of a Guelph home earlier this week.

Waterloo Regional Police said they began investigating a series of thefts from a business on Ottawa St. S. in Kitchener between Oct. 25 and Dec. 6. Stuffed toys, valued at about $2,000, were reported stolen.

On Dec. 9, Waterloo Regional Police completed a search warrant at a Guelph home, recovering about 140 stolen toys valued at about $7,500.

Police said most of the recovered items were Jellycat toys, believed to have been stolen from across southwestern Ontario.

The woman was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and trafficking in stolen property.
