A man in his 20s is in life-threatening condition after a shooting early Sunday in North York.

Toronto Police said on social media that they received reports of an altercation and gunshots heard in the Steeles Ave.-Hwy. 400 area Sunday at about 4:30 a.m. before officers found a man with gunshot wounds at the scene.

The victim was rushed to a hospital to be treated for injuries determined to be life-threatening.

Arrest made after Etobicoke stabbing

A 22-year-old man is in custody after another male was stabbed Sunday afternoon in north Etobicoke.

Toronto Police said on social media that officers responded to reports of a man being stabbed Sunday at about 3:30 p.m. in the Lockheed Blvd.-Westona St. area, south of Hwy. 401 at Weston Rd.

The victim, whose age was not immediately available, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Another male was arrested at the scene, but a police spokesperson was unable to confirm if he had been charged as of Sunday evening.

Police said there was no risk to the public’s safety.

Driver seriously hurt in early morning crash

A 21-year-old man suffered “life-altering injuries” late Saturday night after a two-vehicle crash in Mississauga’s west end.

Peel Regional Police said on social media that they responded to the crash just before midnight on Saturday in the Ninth Line-Argentia Rd. area, which is close to where Hwys. 401 and 407 cross over northeast of Milton.

One of the drivers was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that were nonetheless considered “life altering.”

Roads were closed in the area, but they have since reopened.

Cop watchdog probing fatal Welland shooting

The province’s police watchdog is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting of a 26-year-old man in Welland.

The Special Investigations Unit said the incident happened Saturday at about 9:15 p.m., when Niagara Regional Police tactical officers helped Peel Regional Police apprehend a wanted man in the Ontario Rd.-King St. area of Welland.

The SIU said a man discharged a firearm at police and officers returned fire before deploying gas. There was another exchange of gunfire as the man exited the home and he was struck before being pronounced dead at the scene.

An officer was also hit by gunfire and hospitalized, but the SIU said he has since been released.

Four investigators and three forensic officers have been assigned to the case with an autopsy scheduled for Monday.
