Patrick Kilonzo Mwalua is a farmer from Africa who became well known in Kenya for doing something amazing — he brings thousands of liters of water to the wild animals in Tsavo West National Park during dry seasons. “If I don’t bring them water, they won’t survive,” he said.

At first, Patrick — now called the “water man” — did everything on his own, even though he didn’t have much money. But once people heard about what he was doing, even strangers from the United States started to help.

Thanks to donations, a fundraiser was started, and they were able to build dams to collect rainwater. They also set up pump systems to carry the water across long distances to the animals who need it most.
