He has reportedly denied any such relationship.

Late Wednesday night, it was reported that Saline Police had detained Moore earlier in the day and he was being transferred to Pittsfield Township and, eventually, the Washtenaw County Jail, where he was being held for an assault investigation.

Arraignment likely coming on Friday

As of Thursday afternoon, Moore remained in jail while awaiting to be arraigned, likely Friday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Also on Thursday, interim Michigan president Domenico Grasso reportedly sent a message to students and faculty members with an update on Moore’s firing.

Per the outlet, Grasso said the probe is ongoing and asked anyone with information to share it to a compliance hotline.

There has been much more to Moore’s wild week, however.

The New York Post reported that Moore was busted on Wednesday night for allegedly breaking into the home of his executive assistant, Paige Shiver, with a knife in hand.

Moore ‘suicidal,’ accused of stalking ex-assistant in police audio

Multiple reports have described Moore as “suicidal” and police audio obtained by the Post painted a bleak picture.

“Male at the location is attacking her … said he’s been stalking her for months,” a male voice in the recording says in the audio, which also indicated that Moore had threatened to harm himself during the alleged exchange.

Reports said Moore then allegedly fled on foot and was arrested at a nearby church.

“It’s gonna be at the Well Church, 211 Willis Rd. … suicidal … driving a black Chevy Tahoe blacked out,” the Washtenaw County Police dispatcher says a short time later, per the Post.

The call came from Shiver’s address in Ann Arbor, Mich., according to public records, the Post reported.

Ex-Michigan coach was fired ‘with cause’

No formal charges were filed as of Thursday night.

Moore, a 39-year-old married dad of three and the first Black coach in Michigan history, is reportedly being held on suspicion of assault charges.

He was fired “with cause” by the university.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Michigan announced in a statement on Wednesday. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was found that coach Moore (allegedly) engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behaviour.”

Just days earlier, Moore had been preparing the No. 18-ranked Wolverines for the Citrus Bowl later this month.
