“This is foster care!”
In March 2020, we brought home a beautiful little preemie after his month-long stay in the NICU. We loved him so much and gave him everything he needed to succeed—this is what foster care is all about! During his time with us, we learned that Peanut had a family who wanted to take him in and love him as their own. We worked closely with them, sharing all of his medical needs to make sure they were ready. We also stayed in touch regularly through texts and built a wonderful friendship.
At the end of January 2021, we transitioned Peanut to his new home, unsure of what the future would bring. But his family kept us updated with pictures and news about him. They didn’t have to do this, but they did, and we’re so grateful.
On February 4, 2022, Peanut found permanency, and his family invited us to be there to celebrate—what a beautiful moment. This is foster care. Sometimes, in the middle of a tough time, you forget about the bright future that follows. Let’s all wish Peanut congratulations on this new chapter!
